Introduction

The page describes the library of Python routines I've written (unless otherwise noted) that I'm making available to the general public. Independent modules are described on this page, along with links to source code and documentation. Packages, because they are more complex, have their own home pages; links to those pages are given on this library page.

Although I've used these routines in my own research, I cannot guarantee that they will work for your purposes. More disclaimers and other fine print is below. Most of the modules and packages on this page have not been developed/maintained since the first decade of the 2000s. They are published for historical and educational purposes only. I would not recommend you to use them for your own work as is.

If you email me your email address, however, I'll let you know of any major bugs that are found in this library.

The page is subdivided into these categories:

Array Manipulation

  • gemath: Package of array manipulation and "good enough" mathematical routines.
  • has_close: This module defines a single function of the same name (has_close) that tests if an array has any values "equal" to a given value and returns 1 if so. File required: Notices and additional documentation:

Atmospheric Scienes

  • atmqty: Package of methods to calculate atmospheric quantities that are directly derivative (i.e. not requiring time integration or modeling) from standard state variables.
  • filelist: This module defines a class (FileList) to create/manipulate a list of filenames, such as those generated by the NCAR CCM3. File required: Notices and additional documentation:
  • qtcm: An implementation of the Neelin-Zeng QTCM1 in a Python object-oriented environment.

Graphics Routines

  • IaGraph: Package of graphing tools for quick, interactive, single-line plotting.
  • wavelen2rgb: Module defines a function to calculate RGB values given the wavelength of visible light. Based on a routine by Earl F. Glynn II. File required: Notices and additional documentation:
