General Science
Issues concerning general science literacy I am particularly
interested in:
- What do we mean by scientific "literacy?"
- What would it look like for the nation to have a scientifically
literate populace? How would that change how society functions?
- How important is it to have a scientifically literate nation? And,
- If it is important, what is the most effective method to
achieve scientific literacy?
Some general science classes I'd like to teach someday:
- Climate and civilizations: The influence of climate on
civilization development.
- Science in the context of its development: Teaching the content
of scientific discoveries and theories, but in the cultural,
philosophical, and societal contexts they were made.
