Description
You will be required to write three major papers and one five-minute speech. The papers and speech will each analyze an environmental topic:
- Paper 1: Worldview Paper
- Paper 2: Ethical Theories Paper
- Paper 3: Science Paper
- Synthesis Speech
You can choose to write your papers on different environmental topics, but your speech must be a synthesis of the worldviews, ethical theories, and science regarding one environmental topic. You will work closely with the Writing Center in working on your papers. Besides the descriptions above, see the Schedule for details as to when drafts are due.
Possible Topics
Please select your paper topic from the following topics or choose a topic similar to one of the following topics.
- Acid rain
- Deforestation
- Food production
- Land-use (e.g. wilderness areas, parks, development)
- Species extinction and biodiversity
- Hazardous waste disposal
- Soil erosion
- Stratospheric ozone depletion
- Sustainable development
- Tropospheric ozone pollution (i.e. smog)
- Water resources development (i.e. supply)
- Water quality (i.e. water pollution)
